Today's market overview

  • Prime Securities gained 4.39% to Rs 304.40 at 12:56 IST on BSE, after the company's board approved raising the present foreign institutional investors ceiling of 30% to 74% of the paid-up equity share capital of the company..
  • DLF gained 1.76% to Rs 1028 on reports it plans to raise $5 billion over the next three years by listing five of its business units.
  • Ramco Systems surged 19.98% to Rs 214.10 and it topped gainers in BSE's A group shares. The stock gained on value buying.
  • BASF India galloped 16.65% to Rs 313.70. It was the second biggest gainer in A group.

Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals gained 14.54% to Rs 294.70. It was the third biggest gainer in A group. On Thursday, 27 December 2007, Gazal Industrial Holdings sold 45 lakh shares of the company at Rs 250 per share which were purchased by Macquarie Bank in a block deal executed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

HMT advanced 9.96% to Rs 111. It stood fourth among top gainers in A group.

Parsvnath Developers spurted 7.86% to Rs 457.45. It was fifth biggest gainer in A group. As per recent reports, the company is constructing a shopping mall, spread over 10,000 square metre of land in Rajpura in Punjab, which will have an expected realisation of about Rs 100 crore.

The BSE Sensex slipped 9.77 points or 0.05% to 20,206.95
